Associate Professor & Head of the Department
Civil Engineering
Civil Engineering is one of the oldest and most fundamental branches of engineering, playing a pivotal role in the development of human civilization. The engineering profession contributes significantly to nation-building by fulfilling essential societal needs. Civil engineers are responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure such as buildings, bridges, roads, railways, water supply systems, sewerage networks, irrigation projects, dams, canals, power facilities, and environmental systems.
In the present era, civil engineering has evolved to address modern challenges through the development of eco-friendly structures, green buildings, sustainable construction practices, fire and safety engineering, and structural health monitoring. These advancements aim to ensure safety, durability, environmental protection, and sustainable development.
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 2010. The intake capacity of the department is 120 students and offers a full-time B.Tech. degree program in Civil Engineering. The department is supported by a team of well-qualified and experienced faculty members and is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories in areas such as material testing, fluid mechanics, surveying, geotechnical engineering, structural analysis, computer-aided design, and environmental engineering.
The department has consistently maintained excellent academic performance and discipline. Students have achieved commendable results in university examinations, with several securing university merit positions. Emphasis is placed on both theoretical knowledge and practical exposure to prepare students for professional challenges.
Civil Engineering graduate education offers diverse and promising career opportunities in public and private sectors, higher education, research, and entrepreneurship. To support holistic student development, the department actively promotes participation in various forums and professional platforms. Student forums such as Avishkar, ECO-Club, and Techno Club provide opportunities for students to showcase their talents through co-curricular, extra-curricular, technical, social, and industrial activities. These include expert lectures, industrial visits, technical competitions, project exhibitions, and community engagement initiatives, all of which contribute to shaping competent and socially responsible civil engineers.
